Andrew Cross

UK-based photograher Andrew Cross was commissioned to make work in the North East of England. A self-confessed train spotter, Cross became interested in the ‘non-space’ which can be found off any major road across the country. These spaces, or non-spaces, do not reflect the local community or culture, they are geographically undefined, as if parts of the landscape are simple bought from a catalogue and transferred to the edges of towns and cities. The pictures are almost eerie in their ubiquitous nothingness, as if the subject had left before the image was made.
