Birmingham-based photographer Stuart Whipps was commissioned in 2007 to look at the theme of ‘work’ in Johannesburg, South Africa, hosted by the Bag Factory artists’ studios.
Whipps’ work is a study of the Central Business District of Johannesburgh, once a whites-only area and economic hub of the city, now redundant, made up of skyscrapers and offices largely as they were when businesses and workers left them.
‘CBD’ has been exhibited at the Bag Factory in Johannesburg and at East International 2009.
