Clare Strand produced the body of work ‘The Betterment Room’ during a commission hosted by Museum Folkwang Essen in 2004.
Referencing the work of time and motion analysts Frank and Lilian Gilbreth, ‘The Betterment Room’ explores the identity and productivity of the post-industrial worker in the Ruhr area of Germany.
The work has been exhibited in Germany, Denmark and Sweden and has been published in Photoworks magazine (http://www.photoworksuk.org/publication/magazine) and in the Photoworks-published monograph ‘Clare Strand’, ISBN: 978-3-86521-838-4.
