Dutch photographer Ralph Kämena was commissioned to make work in Russia, hosted by the National Centre of Photography in Moscow.
‘In Code We Trust’ looks at the IT sector, a rapidly expanding area of Russian industry, enhanced by European outsourcing to the country. The work features portraits of computer programmers, those entrusted to produce the code by which we all live in digital times. Alongside the portraits are images of the technological relics of the past, the so called ‘super computers’ which date back to the 80’s and 90’s and are now sitting, unused, in storage rooms in university basements.
‘In Code We Trust’ has been exhibited in Finland and Russia.
