Icelandic photographer Orri was commissioned to make work in Slovakia in 2005, hosted by Dom Fotografie.
‘Without Work’ reflects Orri’s experience of rural Slovakia and the lack of optimism he felt when he visited there, enhanced by a difficult economic environment and the savage nature which confronted him. The images have a simple beauty whilst reflecting a loss of hope; withered flowers and stunted trees, abandoned factories at odds with their surroundings.
‘Work: Orri,’ a co-publication with Kate Mellor, was published by Dom Fotografie in 2006.
